Every year, Porvoo Jazz Festival brings new cross-artistic concepts to our jazz audience that is diligently looking for something new. Jazz raves are definitely the most surprising experiment of this years festival. We bring together contemporary dance, light art and the masterpiece of jazz music as a tribal experience: the audience plays an important role as an experiencer and creator of the atmosphere. We don’t want to tell you everything about the event, what we can tell you is that John Coltrane’s masterpiece A Love Supreme will be listened to in its entirety from a record. The purpose is to devote yourself to listening to the record, either while moving or even falling into a jazz trance in the dark while the lights create the atmosphere. Love Supreme is a spiritual experience where the listener can stop and relax.
The story goes that the album in 1964 was completed in a night recording session, so it’s completely natural to indulge in it after midnight.
We strive to create a setting where you can fully immerse yourself in Love Supreme and be carried away by all your senses, because it is worth remembering that dance and movement are strongly part of the history of jazz. Love Supreme embodies supernatural love, power and flow.
