Porvoo Jazz Club goes Bosgård presents bassist Jori Huhtala, who is releasing his fourth solo album with his new Basis quartet and will arrive in Porvoo in July for the long-awaited album release gig at the atmospheric Bosgord Charolain hayloft. During his career spanning over two decades, Huhtala has established his place at the forefront of the Finnish jazz scene with his determined and expressive playing. Huhtala is known, among others, as a long-time member of the bands of Finnish jazz legends Eero Koivistoinen and Raoul Björkenheim. His solid accompaniment has also been heard in the bands of, among others, Jussi Fredriksson, Sid Hille, Harri Kuusijärvi and Nina Mya.
The other members of the band represent the brightest of Finnish jazz and are also Huhtala’s favorite musicians, for whom he has specially composed all the material heard on the album and in the concert. The quartet plays as one instrument, thoughtfully and breathily.
