Sara Decker is a contemporary jazz vocalist and composer, specializing in merging popstyles with improvisational jazz artistry. Known for her subtle tone, impressive range and heartfelt story-telling she has been acknowledged with numerous music awards andnominations (Young European Talent, Netherlands, Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition and the European Jazz Award,Italy). Sara is now releasing her third album „expand“ with a stellar group of long time female collaborators and friends. The program features a wide range of intimate duo and explosive quartet/quintet compositions by up-and-coming female jazz musicians from the German-American-Finnish jazz scene.
Melodious themes mingle with rhythmically complex layers. For a long time I have longed to create a project where I could bring together all these wonderful musicians and women that I admire so much. I realized that a lot of my music and inspiration is tied to social issues and personal relationships. “Expand is really about celebrating female collaboration and friendship. For me, it’s about supporting each other and making each other shine while pushing our own musical boundaries.“

At the Porvoo Jazz Festival in Vanha 123, the audience is always served two experiences with one ticket. The conserts start in Genelec Lab & 1 and 2 at the same time, and after a short break, the audience changes halls and hears the second performer of the evening. Fridays performers in Vanha 123 are: Joonatan Henriksson Quintet sekä EXPAND. Aatos Cafe serves treats during the concerts
