The highlight of the Saturday night of Porvoo Jazz Festival will be the cult band Dalindèo. Their sixth album, “Tropicalia Nordica,” will be released in May 2024. Expect timeless, energetic, entertaining, and psychedelic surf-iron jazz in Dalindèo’s style. “Tropicalia Nordica” is musically and soundwise towards the Emma Award-winning “Kallio” album but a bit more modern. The album has been produced by the band leader Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen together with Olli Palmunen, who has worked with artists like Karri Koira and Yeboyah. Palmunen has mixed the album, and it has been mastered by Veikka Erkola. Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen describes the upcoming album as a “classic” Dalindèo album: “Our 2020 release, ‘Follow the Dark Money,’ took the band to darker worlds, and through that journey, I was able to see what makes Dalindèo a unique and beloved band, not only among jazz audiences: Playfulness, the joy of playing together, and the accessibility of music without compromising its quality. I can’t wait to perform this music for people!”
