While Django Reinhardt’s music has been revisited many times, it has often been within a familiar framework, with the guitar remaining omnipresent. For this brand new opus, Baptiste Herbin follows in the footsteps of the gypsy virtuoso by setting himself a real challenge: the formula of the saxophone, double bass, and drums trio. This unique configuration leads the instrumentalist towards more freedom but also more constraints; if the chords are not played as such, they must be heard even more. Thus, the cards are reshuffled, to keep only the guitarist’s spirit, this breathtaking lyrical spontaneity, and an improvisational language that remains an absolute reference today. <\/p>\n\n
