Porvoo Jazz Club is participating in the Porvoo Lights event for the second time. This time the amazing lights at Vanha 123 will be designed and implemented by Porvoo-based Hakalight & Taavi Paananen! The stage will be taken by the spectacular seven-piece Mimie Moore Jazz Edition! <\/p>\n\n
Mimie Moore is a surprising acoustic trio of three women (Elina Brooks, Maija Kurki & Saana Trygg-Nevanlinna). The group’s work sizzles wildly between moods, never missing a corny note, while the succulent stemmy vocals thunder through all levels of humour and seriousness. In 2024, it will be ten years since the band started touring, and to celebrate, they are organising a celebratory tour: ’10 years of honey’. The concerts on the tour will be performed by an expanded line-up, the seven-piece Mimie Moore Jazz Edition, where the trio, known for their stage charisma, will combine their raucous lyrics, strong melodies and succulent stemming vocals with skilled performances by cutting-edge jazz musicians. <\/p>\n\n
The unique, rootsy sound of the trio with their vocals, bucket bass, accordions and laundry trucks brings an old world twist to the new music. Mimie Moore, known for her stage charisma, tells the story of a human being in the human wave of life with sensitivity and courage, without hiding big emotions. Over the years, the band has performed at events all over Finland and Germany and collaborated with numerous bands and musicians. The trio has been awarded in the Basso-radio NOST\u20ac competition and has produced music for the Finnish skateboarding team, among others. <\/p>\n\n
With the confident playing of bassist Esko Grundstr\u00f6m, trumpeter-pianist Mikko “Gunu” Karjalainen, guitarist Mikko Iivanainen and drummer Jesse Ojaj\u00e4rvi, the band’s music, also known as “Schutzzzi”, takes on a whole new range of fascinating tones. The concerts on the tour are supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland. <\/p>\n\n
