In Vanha 123 you will experience two concerts with one ticket. The doors to the venue will open at 7.15 p.m. when you will get the chance to relax perhaps with a glass of wine. The two gigs will start at the same time in different halls at 8 p.m. During a small break the audience will switch halls and hear the other band starting at 9:15 p.m. The Kjetil Mulelid Trio released their debut album in late 2017 on Norway’s prestigious Rune Grammofon label, a trademark that stands for a major deal of the best experimental electronic, jazz and improvised music from Scandinavia. The trio have since their first release marked themselves as some of Norway’s foremost jazz musicians with an active concert agenda in much of Europe. Their acclaimed sophomore album What You Thought Was Home, was released in August 2019 on the same record label. Pianist Kjetil Mulelid’s compositions expertly balance the energetic, rhythmically complex and harmonically rich music with beautiful, evocative melodies. The trio have been heavily praised in magazines such as «The Wire» and «The New York City Jazz Record» and the Jazz FM host Jez Nelson mentioned them as «Best of the year” in 2018. Before the pandemic put them on hold they where busy around Europe playing concerts in Portugal, the Stockholm jazz festival, sold out Vortex Jazzklubb in London, City Universitet Jazz Festival in Paris, Jazz Schmiede in Düsseldorf, the Tromsø Jazzfestival, the Southport Jazzfestival, and loads of other concerts around in Japan, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Estonia and in Scandinavia.
