Markus Niittynen Quartet is an intermational level jazzband. When a group of players share the same respect for the old masters, it is very natural that they start playing together.

The combo plays lively and ryhtmicly strong music that leans strongly to 1950-60’s tradition. All songs are composed by Niittynen himself.

Besides pianist-composer Niitynen the Quartet consists of Yrjö-rewarded musicians Joonatan Rautio (saxophone), and Jussi Lehtonen (drums) and estonian bass player Heikko Remmel.

Markus Niittynen is a jazz pianist and a -composer, that has played in over 20 countries and is part of many finnish jazz combos. Most recent is a co-operation with Rost Burn Big Band that performs compositions by Niittynen conducted by one of the biggest starts of european big band music, Ed Partyka.

The debut album of the orchestra was recorded in Kallio-Kuninkaala 2019 and is fourth solo album of Markus Niittynen.
