March’s Porvoo Jazz Club will feature the South-East Corner jazz band led by drummer Arttu Huopainen, playing music composed by him. The music is a mix of jazz traditions and themes from his home region. A combination of different saxophones, double bass and drum kit form an ensemble that sounds airy, offering a wide range of timbres. The songs feature varied rhythms, singing themes and plenty of room for improvisation.
Arttu Huopainen (b.1998) is an active freelance musician in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. His playing can be heard in the ranks of Sointi Jazz Orchestra, Syskofrenia, TRI-, Tuigu led by guitarist Juha Björninen and many other bands.
